Hi, I'm Kendra. I am an enthusiastic lifelong learner and educator of the Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry). In 2016, I transitioned from teaching in the classroom to providing support as a Science coach through my venture, Sort-ed. Sort-ed allows me to creatively share my love for science while helping others become more organized and productive.

 

Having attained my BSc. Honours in Analytical Chemistry, I taught Physical Sciences at St Mary's School, Waverley, where I am grateful to have gained valuable experience teaching up to matric level and marking for the IEB. I also have experience tutoring students in Cambridge, SACAI and DBE curricula. 

I live with my hubby and 7-year-old daughter in Blairgowrie, Joburg.

Who do I coach?

Physical Sciences (i.e. Physics and/or Chemistry) pupils

  • IEB and DBE: Grade 10-12 and 
  • Cambridge: IGCSE & higher

Lessons are all 1-on-1 and content and pace are individually tailored to suit each pupil.

How do lessons work?

All lessons are done by Kendra Hendry (BSc. Hons. PGCE).

Sessions are conducted virtually using Zoom. My innovative Zoom stand allows pupils to clearly see what is being written during the lesson.

After each session, notes are scanned and uploaded to a shared Google Drive folder for easy access. Students are welcome to collect their physical notes anytime.

When are the lessons?

Each lesson is 45 minutes and they are scheduled on BLUE days (see calendar below)

Why do I do things this way?

As part of my intentional part-time approach, I only work on blue days, as highlighted in the calendar above.
This schedule allows me to balance my professional commitments with my role as a Mom. 

My pupils come from a wide range of schools with varied academic schedules, so Sort-ed doesn't follow a specific school calendar.
I have adopted a seasonal calendar instead. The Summer term (January and February) allows families to settle into the new school year at a manageable pace, while the Autumn, Winter, and Spring terms align with periods of increased academic intensity, such as exams.
No lessons are held in December, ensuring a well-deserved break for pupils and families alike.

How much?

Contract (Regular pupils)

This is for pupils who want to commit to having lessons with me for the duration of the season/school year.
Regular pupils book slots at the start of each season, with priority given to existing students.
There are limited Contract slots available.

Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) - ad hoc

  • Rate: R580 per 45 min lesson
  • Ideal for non-contract pupils who are happy with flexible scheduling, with lessons as and when they are needed
  • Please note PAYG slots are always subject to availability and are only made available once all Contract slot requirements are met. 

What's included?

The fees for Contract and PAYG pupils include the following:

  • 1-on-1 lesson time with a qualified and experienced Physical Sciences teacher (Kendra Hendry BSc. Hons. PGCE)
  • access to all scanned lesson notes via Google Drive
  • all admin, printing and scheduling
  • out-of-lesson support (within reason) via WhatsApp during Sort-ed office hours 

Payment terms

All fees (for Contract and PAYG) are billed in arrears on the 25th of each month, with payment due before the last day of each month
Fees are non-refundable and apply regardless of attendance (see T's and C's below)

T's and C's

By booking any science lessons with Sort-ed (Kendra Hendry), you are acknowledging and accepting the following and all other information given out in documents pertaining to Sort-ed in 2026.

  • Commitment to Learning: Kendra will use her expertise to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of Physical Sciences. While improvement in marks is not guaranteed, increased understanding often leads to better results.
  • Lesson Readiness: Students must be ready to start on time. Kendra will provide recurring Zoom link details in advance, along with reminders sent out on Monday mornings. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes, and notes will be scanned and shared promptly after each session.
  • Engagement: Students are expected to be fully engaged during lessons. To maximize learning, please minimize distractions from other devices (e.g. phones, tablets) and focus on the session.
  • Missed Lessons: If a student needs to miss a lesson, they must inform Kendra at least 24 hours in advance. They can still send questions or topics for discussion, and Kendra will address these during the lesson time through voice recordings or videos. Late arrivals will not have their lesson time extended. If Kendra must reschedule or cancel a lesson, she will notify the client as soon as possible and credit any pre-booked lessons.
  • Payment Agreement: By booking lessons (whether Contract or PAYG), clients accept the 2026 fee structure. Payments are due by the end of each month based on an account issued on the 25th. Fees are non-refundable and apply regardless of attendance due to illness, vacations, or connectivity issues. If proof of payment is not received by the first of the month, lessons may be suspended at Kendra's discretion.
  • Contract Termination: Students are enrolled for the full season unless written notice of termination is given two weeks in advance. Notices should be sent to science@sort-ed.co.za. Regular communication is essential for lesson scheduling and effectiveness. Failure to respond to scheduling messages within a reasonable time frame, repeated missed lessons without notice, or ongoing lack of engagement may result in lessons being discontinued at Kendra’s discretion.
  • Holiday Schedule: Sort-ed does not strictly follow school holidays; please refer to the 2026 Calendar for details. Communication outside office hours will be responded to as soon as possible during office hours.
  • Practice and Homework: Science requires practice. Kendra may assign short exercises for home study alongside school homework. Students should prioritize these tasks and be prepared to discuss their efforts during lessons.

These Terms and Conditions are effective as of Nov 2025 and are subject to change or update at any time at Sort-ed’s discretion.
Clients will be notified of any significant changes.
